Wave / Medmont Set-up Process
First, download the Wave Software program. Click HERE to download.
Please read Wave Install Instructions before you install the Wave software program. Click HERE to read.
Second, you will need to download the Wave Medmont Files folder to your computer, please click HERE to download. When the File Download - Security Warning box pops up select SAVE not run.
Then double click on Wave Medmont Files.exe. An information window will pop up to tell you where to extract the files. Click the OK button and the WinZip Self-Extractor - Medmont Files.exe window will appear on your Desktop. Click the BROWSE button and select your Desktop. Then click the UNZIP button, Click OK, and then click the CLOSE button
In the Wave Medmont Files folder you will see a Wave_LinkSettings zip file. When you unzip the file you will have a choice of a 32 or 64 bit processor file to use depending on your computer.
Next you will need to copy the Wave.LinkSettings file from the Wave Medmont Files folder and paste it into the Medmont "Links" folder.
NOTE: Medmont Version 6 - The "Wave.Linksettings" file must be placed in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Medmont\Medmont Studio 6\Links folder.
In the Wave Medmont Files folder is the CWDModules.zip file. This will need to be unzipped and then import these into your Medmont software.
Issues That May Occur in Medmont Studio 5
There have been two primary issues when Wave is used with Medmont Studio 5.
Access to Wave is provided through a file named: "Wave.LinkSettings."
The first issue is that this file must be placed in the proper folder for the Medmont
application to "see" it.
The path is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Medmont\Medmont Studio 5\Links."
This is a screen grab, when using Microsoft explorer of the proper location for the file.
The second issue has to do with security on Window 7 systems. Most locations on the hard drive
are "protected" so that we have difficulty exporting files to the hard drive. We can edit
the Wave.Linksettings file (using Notepad) so that the Medmont Studio 5 applicataion
can export the data to a safe location.
There is a line in the Wave.Linksettings file that can be edited.
<ExportPath></ExportPath> can be changed to: <ExportPath>C:\Users\Jim Edwards\My
Documents\Wave\MedmontWaveExport</ExportPath>
The exact text depends on the user that is logged in for the computer. In my case, the path is :
C:\Users\Jim Edwards\My Documents\Wave\MedmontWaveExport.
For a user named "John Smith", the proper path is:
C:\Users\ John Smith \My Documents\Wave\MedmontWaveExport.
This is a screen grab of the edited Wave.Linksetting file on my system. The specific line
is highlighted in red.
Closer view:
When the Medmont Studio 5 application exports the data, a temporary file is created in
the specified folder and imported into Wave.
Below is a screen grab showing that the temporary file was properly exported to the location specified in the Wave.Linksettings file.
When these two issues are addressed, Wave seems to operate properly with Medmont
Studio 5.
Wave Medmont Training Process
As a prerequiste to ordering any GP lenses using the Wave Contact Lens System software, the user must exhibit mastery of the fundamental principles and skills for designing spherical, toric and mulitfocal lenses (orthokeratology lens is optional) using the software.
